Preparing for your appointment
We recommend attending when you are not menstruating and avoiding sexual intercourse, tampons, vaginal medications or creams for 48 hours beforehand. Mention any irregular bleeding, local treatment or current discomfort.

How the sample is collected
After explaining the procedure, a speculum is used to view the cervix and a small instrument is used to collect the cells. The sample is preserved in the appropriate container and sent for analysis.
